'We Will Sail Again' (acrylic on canvas, white wood framed)
So much of my work expresses the idea of journeys, being moored, being unmoored; looking around at where we are, noticing the details, looking ahead, while looking for a sense of home to anchor us. This painting came quickly and joyfully, after pawing over nautical symbols and a visit to Shoreham Docks with my family. There is something so reassuring about living on the coast, on the edge of an island - your wanderlust can dance the possibilities of escape and other destinations, just by looking towards the sea.
‘Keep your face always toward the sunshine – and shadows will fall behind you’
- Walt Whitman
