Float (100x100cm, acrylic on canvas, framed)

£1,700.00

RESTORE is a collection based around our need to retreat and restore ourselves, away from the onslaught of horror and confusion that the world often delivers to us through our many screens - what Walt Whitman called the ‘fathomless well of fault and foolishness!’

This painting was inspired by a poem by Charles Baudelaire, and a song by Olivia Dean - that’s some contrasting influences - one fed the image and the other the feeling - of the need to detach into a dream state and observe the beauty in the everyday.

From Baudelaire:

‘Before you became a cloud, you were an ocean, roiled and murmuring like a mouth. You were the shadows of a cloud crossing over a field of tulips. You were the tears of a man who cried into a plaid handkerchief. You were the sky without a hat. Your heart puffed and flowered like sheets drying on a line.’

From Dean:

Can we just float here for a while?
Take our time and just lie back and coast here for a mile.’

This many layered, 1m square painting is floated in a white wood frame.

It is also available in print form.
